Babylon Art Show Brings NFT and Traditional Painters to NYC

On April 12–13, 2023, New York City will host Babylon x NYC, an exhibition of more than 100 physical and digital pieces.

Babylon, a Web3 gallery specialized in primary sales of NFT editions, has organized an exhibition to feature the work of the project's 30 Founder Artists, who have made significant contributions to the New Formalist Tendency art scene.

The exhibition also features the personal collection of Babylon's creator, Paruyr Shahbazyan, which is being shown publicly for the first time, as well as pieces by renowned Armenian artist Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, whose maiden drop on Ethereum will be hosted by Babylon.

Artists like Rik Oostenbroek, who has collaborated with the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Apple, and Nike over the course of his 20-year career; Archan Nair, whose work has been featured in Rolling Stone and Vogue; and Terrell Jones, whose gangster film-inspired pieces have been auctioned at Sotheby's, are among Babylon's Founding Artists.

On April 12, the team and Founding Artists will present the new NFT platform that will serve as the permanent home of NFT Editions. On April 13, the public will be able to visit Babylon X NYC.

Shahbazyan created Babylon out of a deep personal interest. He calls it his ikigai, which is a Japanese term for "life purpose." With an estimated 4,000 ETH in his collection, including rare and costly items like a 3D Glass Hoodie Punk, Spiral Fidenza, and Red Ringer, Shahbazyan is one of the largest and most watched independent NFT collectors.

He elaborates on the importance of the Babylon x NYC show:

"Art has always held a particular place in my heart, but I yearned to do more than just collect."

The development of NFTs has provided a chance to revolutionize and democratize the art world in the same way that printing did in the 18th century. The art world will be more inclusive and accessible because of the new edition-based sales mechanisms that Babylon is introducing.
